Your data, protected

How we collect, use and safeguard your personal and health information.

Last updated

Your health information is personal. This policy explains what we collect when you book a test, visit a branch or contact us, why we need it, and the choices you have.

  • Never sold

We don’t sell your data or use health results for advertising.

  • Need-to-know access

Reports go only to you and the people you authorise.

  • You’re in control

Access, correct or delete your data at any time.

01Who we are

Bioline Laboratory Pvt. Ltd. ("BioLine", "we", "us") runs diagnostic laboratories, collection centres and a home sample collection service across India. Our registered office is at 43B-1 Cowley Brown Road, Near Kumaran Hospital, R.S. Puram, Coimbatore – 641002, Tamil Nadu, India.

This policy explains how we handle personal data collected through this website, our booking and support channels (including WhatsApp and phone), and our branches. For the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, BioLine is the Data Fiduciary for that data.

02Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details — your name, email address, mobile number and a password (stored only as a one-way hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google.
  • Booking details — the tests or packages you choose, appointment date and time, collection address, and the patient’s name, age and gender.
  • Family members — name, age, gender and relationship for anyone you add to book tests on their behalf.
  • Messages — what you send through the contact form, support tickets, WhatsApp, email or phone.

Health information

When you take a test with us we process samples, test results, reports and any clinical details or doctor’s prescriptions you share. This is sensitive personal data and we treat it with extra care — see How we protect health information.

Information collected automatically

  • A sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
  • Basic technical data our servers log when you visit, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, used for security and troubleshooting.

03How we use your information

We use personal data only for the purposes below:

  • To schedule appointments, send a phlebotomist for home collection, and confirm bookings by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email.
  • To perform the tests you ordered and deliver your reports to you or to a doctor you nominate.
  • To manage your account, cart, saved items, family profiles and order history.
  • To answer enquiries, resolve complaints and handle refunds.
  • To keep our services secure, prevent fraud and screen spam from our contact form.
  • To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including laboratory accreditation and public health reporting.

We will only send you promotional messages if you have agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time.

04How we protect health information

Test results and reports are shared only with the patient, the person who booked the test on their behalf, or people the patient authorises (for example, a referring doctor).

We do not sell health information, and we never use it for advertising. Access inside BioLine is limited to the staff who need it to process your tests and support you.

Where the law requires it — for example, reporting notifiable diseases to public health authorities — we may share results with the relevant government body without separate consent.

05Who we share it with

We share personal data only with service providers that help us run our services, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only on our instructions:

Provider typeWhy
Cloud hosting and databaseTo run this website and store accounts and bookings
GoogleTo let you sign in with your Google account
WhatsApp (Meta)To send booking confirmations and updates
Email deliveryTo send emails about your enquiries and bookings
Support ticketingTo track and respond to your enquiries
Spam screeningTo filter abusive or automated contact form messages

We may also disclose data if required by law, court order or a government authority, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our patients, staff or the public. If BioLine is involved in a merger or acquisition, data may transfer to the new owner under the same protections.

Some of these providers store data on servers outside India. Where that happens we make sure the transfer is permitted under Indian law.

06How long we keep it

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your profile, cart and family member details.

Laboratory records, test reports and billing records are kept for the period required by medical, accreditation and tax regulations, even after an account is deleted. After that period they are securely deleted or anonymised.

07Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls and regular reviews to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password private and tell us straight away if you suspect someone has accessed your account. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.

08Your rights and choices

Under Indian data protection law you can:

  • Ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct or update your details — most can be edited directly in your profile and family members.
  • Ask us to delete your data, subject to the records we must keep by law.
  • Withdraw consent you have given, for example to marketing messages.
  • Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity.
  • Raise a grievance with us, and then with the Data Protection Board of India.

To make a request, email support@biolinelab.com from the address on your account. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it.

09Children

Accounts are for adults aged 18 and over. Tests for children must be booked by a parent or legal guardian, who gives consent on the child’s behalf. We do not knowingly market to children or track their behaviour.

10Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or the law change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will tell you by email or a notice on this website before it takes effect.

11Grievance Officer

If you have a concern about how your data is handled, contact our Grievance Officer. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
